Getting Downtown
There are many ways to get into downtown Halifax. There are several car rental options, public transit at the ready, taxis and limos always available, and Uber at a relatively inexpensive rate.

Halifax Harbour Bridges
There are two bridges in Halifax, The Macdonald Bridge and The McKay Bridge. Your navigation may very well direct you to take one of these bridges, particularly if you are staying in Downtown Halifax. No tolls are required.

Halifax to Dartmouth Ferry
The Halifax–Dartmouth Ferry is the oldest saltwater ferry in North America, and the second oldest in the world. Today the service is operated by Halifax Transit and links Downtown Halifax with two locations, Alderney Landing and Woodside, in Dartmouth, NS. The cost is $2.75 one way.
The ferry terminal only takes exact change or Halifax Transit bus tickets. Tip, ask for a free transfer for a return trip, which is valid for up to 90 minutes.

Downtown Parking
Parking in Halifax is not always a walk in the park! If you are staying in Downtown Halifax, we recommend opting for on-site parking at your hotel.
If you do find street parking, remember that it is free on weekends.
